Fassetts Mountain House next to the trail The Fairy Spring Trail is accessed off of the White Arrow Trail shortly after leaving the Old Halfway House Site. The trail is on the left just after the intersection of the White Arrow, Royce, and Monte Rosa Trails just before a wooden "White Arrow Trail" sign on a tree. The trail starts off by going down a very small descent to a brook crossing. It immediately then heads back uphill at a relatively steep grade. The trail goes up before a short leveling off with the old stone foundation of Fassett's Mountain House on your left. You then head back uphill in a steeper and rockier section. After this climb, the trail levels off some while still remaining quite rocky. You will soon head into the softwoods forest while heading back uphill some more.

Trail crossing the brook at Fairy Spring Now in the thicker trees, the trail works its way back and forth along the slope you are climbing making the elevation gain a little easier. Soon you will come to a level section of trail as you turn to the right. Here the trail works its way up the mountain gradually with a couple short climbs over rocks. After continuing on like this for a while, you will come to a section that looks like standing water but is actually Fairy Spring. After crossing this brook, the trail climbs up some rocks. Here you will now go up a few climbs up rocky areas with the last being quite steep and the hardest of them all. Now the trail levels out some still going up slightly before coming to the end at the Monte Rosa Trail where you can head right to continue working your way up the mountain.

When descending... the trail is found on the left of the Monte Rosa Trail just below the Smith Bypass Trail. The trail starts with the steepest decent first followed by a couple other rocky descents. Soon you will cross a brook at Fairy Spring and then start on a much more gradual section of trail. After slowly working your way downhill for a while, you will start to come to a few relatively steep and rocky descents. You will pass Fassett's Mountain House on your right just before the last descent. Now you will cross a brook and head back uphill shortly before coming out on the White Arrow Trail where you can turn right to head down the mountain.
