Early part of trail The Lost Farm Trail is accessed from the Parker Trail about 1/2 mile from the park headquarters. The trail starts off very gentle with very brief incline followed by a longer section of pretty much flat hiking. After a small brook crossing (sometimes dry), you will continue along relatively flat ground for a while before the trail starts to make a steady climb uphill in front of you. The trail continues uphill like this for a ways without many rocks. Soon you will get to the top of this steady climb where you will notice a wooden sign on a tree pointing to the left and saying "LOST FARM TR."

Trail following along the side of the hill After this turn in the trail, the Lost Farm Trail is quite often following along the side hill of the mountain. The trail continues to still go through relatively thick hardwoods as it slowly gains elevation. As you continue up, the trail will start to get a little rockier at times and will also have some moderate inclines. These sections don't last very long when you encounter them though. After a few of these rocky steeper sections, the trail will go back to having a moderate incline and smoother trail surface. Just before the end of the trail when you will come to the Cliff Walk Trail, there is a very nice view to the South from a rock just on the left side of the trail.

When descending... the trail is reached from the Cliff Walk Trail and is on the left side. The intersection is well marked with both paint on the rocks and wooden signs in the trees. The trail descends steadily at first with only a few brief sections that are a little steeper and rockier than the rest of the trail. You will continue down the mountain mainly following the side hill on the trail. As you continue to loss elevation, the trail will make a turn to the right and start a moderate decline. After this, the trail levels back out quite a bit and brings you down to the Parker Trail without much effort.
